Alice May Thompson, 95, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, December 26, 2014, at home, with her family at her bedside.
She was born to Alex and May Baty Selesky on August 3, 1919, in Detroit. She spent her life in West Branch since 1939, when she married Ernest L. Thompson. Alice taught school in Ogemaw County from 1939 until she retired in 1978. She belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma Society, MARSP, Foxy Ladies, Flyers Inc., International Flying Farmers, and was Queen of Michigan Flying Farmers a couple of times. She and her husband, Ernie traveled a lot and in their single engine plane traveled more than 600,000 miles. She was a staunch supporter of the local library. She was an avid reader and usually read a book a day, and could give a report on it. Alice is survived by her son, James (Victoria) Thompson, and her daughter, Mary Ann Brock, all of West Branch, a sister, Marguerite Michaelis, of Sealy, Texas, 6 grandchildren, Scott (Tracy) Kapanke of Goose Creek, S Carolina. Joshua (Trista) Brock, of Tuscon, AZ, Jimmie (Melissa) Brock, Sheryl (Andrew)Brown, Janie (Donald) Pitre And Norman (Crystal) Brock, all of Magnolia Texas. She leaves behind numerous great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and May Selesky; her husband, Ernest L. Thompson; a son in law, Wesley Brock, and five siblings Agnes Post of Grayling, Elizabeth Visnaw of Saginaw, Carol Low of Rose City, David Selesky of Rose City, John Selesky of Rose City and James Selesky of Waterloo, Iowa. A memorial service is being planned for March 7, 2015 at 11:00 am at Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist in West Branch.
