Obituary of Sidney Junior Rootes

Rootes, Sidney J. Whittemore, Michigan Mr. Rootes, age 82, passed away Sunday January 25, 2015, surrounded by family. Sidney was a Korean War Veteran and received the purple heart and an honorable discharge after receiving wounds in the war one day before the peace treaty. After that he worked as a laborer in a variety of jobs. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, crocheting, gardening and watching the news. He was his families own weatherman. Mr. Rootes was preceded in death by his wives; Della Louise Rench and Emily Ardith Proper, his son Sidney "Lee" Rootes and daughter Robin Juarez. Mr. Rootes is survived by his 4 children; Judy Hernandez of Battle Creek, Tina Hernandez of Battle Creek, Becky Hubbard of North Carolina and Jason (Tera) Rootes of Whittemore. Also surviving are 3 step children; Nancy Messenger of Battle Creek, Emily Blankenship of Battle Creek, and Mary McCrary of Utah, 23 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 7 step grandchildren.
