Obituary of Richard Dennis Martin

Richard (Rich) Martin, left our family on May 12, 2015, After a 6 month battle with Leukemia, he was surrounded by his loved ones. Rich was born in Bay City, Michigan. to the late Arthur and Virginia Martin on July 1, 1947. Leaving behind is his loving wife of 47 years, Sue (Milliken)Martin, son Chad (Jenny) Martin. daughter, Marnie (Bryan) Miklosovic. grandchildren; Nichlas, Branden, Reilee, David, Isabel, Joshua, Reece and the "little slugger" Josiah. Also surviving are his siblings; Louis (Donna) Martin, Joann (Aloxsius) Kozuch, Blanche (Dale) Bensch, Gerald (Kathy) Martin, Geraldine (John) Houvener and his twin sister Rita (James) Lang, two special nieces, Leah Kessler and Cindy Parsons and special friend Casey. Rich was preceded in death by his brother Eugene Martin and sister Leona McDaniel. Rich was known for his kindness, generousity and willingness to help anyone in need. He spent many years as an active role with Westown Little league baseball, as President, chief umpire and coach. He also served as a volunteer on the Lee Township fire department. He loved spending time with family, friends and especially grandchildren, grilling a great steak and enjoying life. Rich's door was always open and ready for great conversation and fun while listening to classic country music. He was employed at Midland Area Homes as Construction Supervisor for 15 years prior to his illness. He was also known in the Midland Area for his ability to repair and refinish furniture. A great guy known by many. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday May 21, 2015 at Midland Free Methodist Church, Midland Michigan. Doctor David Kessler and Pastor Chet Allen will officiate. There will be a luncheon to follow. The family of Rich would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. V and all of the staff at Covenant Healthcare for their outstanding and compassionate care shown to the family at this most difficult time.
