Hugs and prayers to all who were touched by my father-in-law Gilbert Myers. He knew how to add fun to the party and he was such a loving dad, grandpa, husband, uncle, to such a huge family. We will all miss him immensely; our memories are many and wonderful.

Uncle Gilbert was the definition of a good man. He loved his family and his extended family. He was always there with a smile or a joke and a hearty handshake and a hug. He always asked what was going on in your life and offered encouragement and praise. He made each of us (nieces and nephews) feel special and cared for.

When I think of Uncle Gill, it puts a smile on my face. He always made you feel special and loved. I have nothing but wonderful memories of him especially when we lost our own father so early in our childhood. He was there for my mom and all of us. I loved getting his Christmas card every year and hearing about the family and grandkids. We are all lucky to have had him in our lives. Nancy and Lee Ann, my heart goes out to you both and all the family. We send our love and deepest sympathy. Jeanette

Uncle Gill was one of the last patriarchs of the Poag family. He was a loving father, husband and loved the Poag family. I remember many good and sad times where Gil would get up and represent the family. I have the upmost respect for what Gil brought to this world. I'm sure he is heaven with Aunt Jane, Chuck and Jeff. Gil always represented what was good in this world. He will be missed. He always hard to see a love one leave this world. Gil deserved the best in the next life and I'm sure he is enjoying himself with the family that left before him.

LeeAnn you said this about your dad so beautiful. He was a wonderful father to you kids. I remember the good times on Tuscola road, the family reunions and just getting together. Kids playing and the grown-ups doing what they liked doing best (playing cards and drinking beer). Peace and prayers to you and the family. Cousin Brenda

Where does one begin to describe the love that I felt for my dad.... He loved his family more than words can explain. He lost his wife (my mom) and two sons (my brothers) to cancer and yet was able to find the strength to continue on. Our family was blessed when he fell in love with Doris and she soon became a part of our lives. She cared for my dad during his illness and never complained. He never wanted to be a burden and said this to my sister and I during his last visit to the hospital; that was my dad, always thinking of others first. As he lay in his bed during that last few hours he said to me "thank you girls". He is the one to be thanked! I love you dad and I will see you in my dreams.

We will always miss grandpa he was a wonderful great man. Loving father. Awesome grandpa. I will never forget the memories I had with him. Like when he put oil in the gas tank of the jet ski at robins. He was a really funny guy. He always made me laugh and smile. When I was down. I will miss going up there to see my gramps. He never stopped fighting he always kept going even when he was sick. He stuck with us for as long has he could. We will miss you dearly. I have had wonderful memories. You will always have a great spot in my heart. In all of are hearts. You were my inspiration.

Towards the end of my Grandpa's full and wonderful life, I began to understand things differently. It isn't his last moments in the hospital, or the complications to his health that define how I see my Grandpa. It is the memories of how caring, loving and supportive of a husband, father, and man he was. I will cherish him forever, because above everything else, family is of the upmost importance. I recently had a dream of my Grandpa, and in my dream he never spoke and he didn't have to, he was just smiling and holding my hand. I love you forever Grandpa, may you rest in peace.
