Obituary of Robert J. Heike

Robert (Bob) J. Heike Passed away peacefully in his home on May 23, 2015, in the presence of his family after a short battle with cancer. Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 28, 1959 and was preceded in death by his father Alvin, mother Evelyn, and sister-in-law Geri. Bob worked for the City of Detroit's Water Department and as an underground utility locator in Northern Michigan. He attended Macomb Community College working towards a degree in Business. Bob loved life and lived it to the fullest! He was always on the go, working all week and then rushing up north to his cabin in Harrison, MI. He removed trees, built a pole barn, and made the property what it is today. In the winter he had his snowmobile tuned up and ready to go for the first good snow fall. He loved to sled and knew all the trails, and bars, in Clare and Roscommon counties. Bob played a great game of regulation pool and was on many bar pool leagues. In the past few years he just shot pool with his many friends in Harrison, still regulation, and was known for his 3-4 rail shots. Bob collected antiques, along with items that might be useful "someday." People knew that if they couldn't find a certain part or tool they could go and ask Bob because he probably had it or knew where you could get it. He enjoyed helping people. He loved to eat and was a self taught great cook. Many times he and his friends would go to Red Lobster or Joe's Crab Shack for seafood and Bob would always order double and never leave with a doggy bag! Bob is survived by Mary Russo, the love of his life and with whom he shared his heart and home with for the last three years; his brother Dennis (Sue), Nephew Adam (Beth); his "fur" daughters, Baby Girl and Dusty, and many family members and friends in both Harrison and Detroit MI.
