Obituary of Vernon D. Slabaugh

Slabaugh, Vernon D. Saginaw, MI Vernon passed away on July 10, 2015 at the age of 84 years. He was born September 5, 1930 in Saginaw Michigan to the late Emanuel and Ivah (Seaman) Slabaugh. He is a 1948 graduate of Arthur Hill High School, a U. S. Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean War, and retired from Sears after 37 years of service in the large appliance department. He golfed on the Bay Valley Wednesday League, enjoyed hunting, and loved spending time with family, friends, and his beloved dog and companion Zoie. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Joan; 5 children, Laurie Monroe of Orlando FL, Joni (Peter) Hayes of Saginaw MI, Kimberly Harden of Barrington RI, Daniel Slabaugh of Midland MI, and Judy (Bruce) Wieber of Richmond MI. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Alison (Eric) Funka, Margo Monroe, Marcy Monroe, Kurt Wieber, Natalie Wieber, Chloe Slabaugh, Brett Slabaugh, & Sarah Harden; 3 great-grandchildren, Jake, Luke, and Lauren; sister, Bonnie Griffore of Saginaw MI. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church 1525 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw Michigan. The family will receive friends on Monday at church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those considering an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Holy Family Catholic Church or VNA Hospice.
