Obituary of Richard W. Ruhnau
Ruhnau, Richard Wayne "Rich", 65, of Midland, died Saturday, August 8, 2015, at his home. He was born October 29, 1949 in Midland, to the late Nicholas and Christina (Reinhardt) Ruhnau. Rich attended Bay City Central High School and Delta College obtaining a mechanic license and later became a diesel specialist.
He married the love of his life Louise (Whalen) Ruhnau on May 5, 1990. Richard was a farmer all of his life and carried on the legacy of his parents Centennial farm. He was employed at Midland Ford as a mechanic until 1992, owned and operated Ruhnau Farm and worked at Sears were he retired from in 2012. His favorite job was caring for his farm where he enjoyed meeting a lot of people and raising and selling pigs. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycles, collecting John Deere items and firearms and was a member of the N.R.A.
In addition to his wife, Louise of Midland, Richard is survived by his 6 daughters, Sandra Ruhnau of Winter Haven, Florida; Susan (Rick) Kollman of Clare; Heather (Gary) Adamczak of Mount Pleasant; Nicole (Rod) Hammond of Beaverton; Christina (Ernie) Hahn of Midland; Victoria (Michael) Colmus of Rhodes; and 16 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and sisters Esther Troxell of Midland and Eleanor Helm of Kawkawlin; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. And a very special friend Julia Guy.
In addition to his parents Rich was preceded in death by brother Frank Ruhnau ,brother-in-laws Bud Troxell and John Helm; nephew Dale Helm.
Per Rich's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Hospice Kara, Zack, Todd and Ryan for the care they provided our father in his final days. In lieu of flowers consider Heartland Hospice.
