Obituary of Mitchelene "Mickey" D. Thurlow

Thurlow, Mitchelene "Mickey" Midland, Michigan Mitchelene Denslow Thurlow, known to family and friends as "Mickey", age 93, passed away on Friday August 28, 2015 in Saginaw at Luther Manor where she has resided since December 2009. She was born on March 30, 1922 in Winn, Michigan to the late Cloyd and Julia (Riggles) Denslow. Her father passed away when Mickey was 12. Years later her mother married her step-father, the late Charles Alberts. Mickey was married and divorced from the late Hugh Arthur (Art) Thurlow. She made her home in Midland. She was employed at the Dow Chemical Cafeteria until her retirement. Although she held numerous jobs in food service, she loved baking for the Dow Cafeteria. Mickey enjoyed socializing with her family and friends, bowling and knitting (at which she was incredibly skilled). She found great pleasure in watching the birds and squirrels at her feeders. Mrs. Thurlow is survived by her 3 sons; Stephen (Patricia) of Saginaw, Bill (Sarah) of North Muskegon, and Charles (Brenda) of Belville, NC. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Jo Thurlow, her brother Burdette Denslow, and sisters: Burdella Miller, and Cleo Souders. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held later for the family at Midland Memorial Gardens Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Luther Manor or Heartland Hospice.
