Obituary of Lynne M. Dexter
Lynne (Gensiver) Dexter, 74, of Gladwin, was set free of her battle with post polio syndrome and received her angel wings on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. As always, her last days on this earth were spent surrounded by her family and friends who she had so deeply touched during her memorable life.
Lynne was born in Bay City, Michigan on August 19, 1941 to Fred and Aldine Gensiver. She graduated from Bay City High School in 1959. Lynne married the love of her life, Leonard (Lenny) Dexter, on February 18, 1961. The love and marriage they shared was notably beautiful and lasted over 52 years. Their most cherished memories were spent at the home they built on the lake at Sugar Springs. The unbreakable bond they created will continue as they are now reunited, once again, in heaven.
Lynne enjoyed cooking, painting, reading, dancing, playing cards and games with her family, and book club with her girlfriends. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, grand dogs, and special friends of Sugar Springs. Lynne's love for life gave her the strength and determination to continue the long fight of post polio syndrome. She will be remembered as a selfless, committed, and compassionate wife, mother, and grandmother with a contagious smile and a great story to tell.
Lynne is survived by her three sons, Lance (Margie) of Mt. Pleasant; Lane (Jane), and Lanny (Kris) both of Midland; Granddaughter, Megan; and her eight grandsons;
Dustin, Daryn, Ryan, Matthew, Logan, Mitchell, Lukas, and Craig; her dear and close cousins, Jack O'Brian of Connecticut; and Janet of Portage, Michigan.
Lynne was preceded in death by her father, Fred Gensiver, and mother, Aldine Gensiver, of Bay City; loving husband, Leonard (Lenny) Dexter; Father-in-law, Clyde Dexter, and Mother-in-law, Margaret (Marge) Dexter, of Midland; and cousin, Bill Simpson, of Saginaw.
At Lynne's request, the family will have a celebration of life gathering on a later date. Friends and family wishing to remember Lynne have been asked to consider contribution to: Michigan Polio Network Inc, Humane Society of Midland County, or HATS of Mt. Pleasant.
