Obituary of Eugene H. Hergenreder

Hergenreder, Eugene H. Kingston, MI Eugene, age 92, died Saturday, January 2, 2016 after a short illness. Eugene was born July 17, 1923 at home in Kingston to the late Henry and Katherine (Zollner) Hergenreder. He married Lottie Marie Woidan on July 3, 1949. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps. while attending high school and later received his GED. He was honorably discharged from the service after serving two tours of duty and reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. After returning home from the service, he worked in the family gas station with his father and later purchased the business. In addition, he and his wife Lottie owned and operated a grocery store in Wilmont MI known as "Charlies Market" and he drove school bus at Kingston Community Schools for 12 ½ years. He later worked for General Cable in Cass City MI and retired from Saginaw Steering Gear after 22 ½ years of service. Eugene served as a Boy Scout Leader, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Wilmont Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and loved fishing and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Lottie; daughters, Judith (Dennis) Nepper and Joan (Fred) Peter all of Caro; son, Eugene (Sharon) Hergenreder Jr. of Cass City MI; grandchildren, Steven (Farrah) Hammett, Michelle (Kenneth) Buggia, Michael (Carrie) Peter, Brandon Hergenereder, and Allison Hergenreder; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Lucille Jakubowski. Cremation has taken place and a private service was held.
