After a year-long battle with cancer, Terry passed away at Covenant Harrison Hospital with his family by his side on Sunday, February 14, 2016. Age 73 years. Terry William Wuerfel was born July 31, 1942 in Saginaw to the late Albert and Elizabeth (Forsyth) Wuerfel.
Terry grew up in Saginaw and then served in the US Navy from 1960-1966. He spent approximately 20 years living in Bridgeport, Michigan before moving out to Snohomish, Washington. During those years, he worked in construction. He then moved near his daughter in Fort Wayne, Indiana. There, he worked for NAI Harding and Dahm as a property maintenance technician for about ten years until he retired. He returned to Saginaw to assist with the care of his father and moved in with his daughter in Bay City for the last year of his life. Terry was a member of several local golf leagues and a Euchre card club. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, walking in the woods, Bible study, driving around to explore new areas, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Immanuel Bible Church in Saginaw.
Surviving are his daughters and their spouses; Michelle and James Wenglikowski II of Fort Wayne, and Ann and Mark Wenglikowski of Bay City; ten grandchildren, Emily, James (J.T.), Thomas Bacca, Megan (Wenglikowski) and Seth Dean, Michael, Alicia, David, and Kayla; two great-grandchildren, Keegan Bacca and Cieraka Hardin Leaman; his brothers and their spouses, Dennis and Marie Wuerfel of Au Gres, Michigan, and William and Karen Wuerfel of Saginaw, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Living Word Church, 2010 N. Stark Road, Midland, Michigan. Reverend William Bailey from Living Word Church and Pastor Matt Beery from Immanuel Bible Church will officiate. The family will greet visitors at the church starting at 9:30 AM until the start of the service. Friends and family are welcome to attend a luncheon immediately following the memorial service at Larkin Township Hall, 3016 N. Jefferson Rd., Midland MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Bible Church.
