Don, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2016. He was born on November 13, 1931 to the late Garrett & Ocla Wilson in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He was a proud Veteran. He served in the Army where he was wounded in the Korean War and awarded a Purple Heart. After returning to the United States, he attended school where he became a skilled watchmaker and jeweler. Don was the owner of Wilson Jewelers on Main Street in Marlette, MI, for 30 years. He was a member of the Marlette VFW Post #4837, the Marlette Planning Commission, and the Marlette Lions Club. He loved to read, visit with friends, "work out" at Hills and Dales Pool in Caro, and drive – just get in the car and go. He was preceded in death by his parents; and Sisters Bonnie Sue, Thelma (Tom) Abaid, Wanda (Bill) Carey. He is survived by his daughter, Dani Organek; Grandchildren, Garrett and Faith; Special Friend and Companion, Janet Fredrikson; Business/Life Manager, Sally (Don) Brunke; Life-Long Friend, Sue Ouimet; Brother, James Wilson; Sisters Brenda Bolyard, Diana (John) Marshall; Patty (Bryan) Cavins, Linda Allen, June Wagner; several nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends from Caro and Marlette.
Please join us at the VFW Hall, 2942 Main Street, Marlette, MI on Sunday, April 24 from 1-4pm to celebrate Don's life. The ceremony will begin at 1:15pm followed by a luncheon.
