Obituary of Carley J. Dubey
Dubey, Carley June
Farwell, MI
Carley, age 83, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016. Carley spent her life devoted to her 5 children, Helen Morris, Larry Pischel (who pre-deceased her in 2014), Ginger Coleman, Randy Pischel and Carley Castillo. She raised her kids mostly alone and everything she did, she did for them. They may not have realized it growing up, but they know it now. When she was "done" raising her 5 kids, she helped to raise her 17 grandkids and even helped some with her 16 great grandchildren - at least those who lived nearby. There are also three more great grandbabies on the way! She was proud of every single one of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Carley lived in many different places and lives were touched wherever she went. She worked for places like Ardis Nursing Home and the Library in Farwell, MI, she was a teacher's aide for Clare Elementary School, she worked for Community Action of Wichita Falls, TX, was a librarian at Chicksands RAF in England, and also worked for the United Way in Mt. Pleasant as a volunteer coordinator and coordinated all the volunteer work for the Timber Town Park that now sits at Island Park. Carley also coordinated the first "Festival of Trees" at Christmas time in Mt. Pleasant, as well as volunteers for the special Olympics. Carley was a church secretary in Cartersville, GA and worked at Michigan Blood in Midland, MI. When Carley wasn't working she was volunteering. She was a volunteer for the Welcome Wagon of Clare MI, was a member of the Clare Rebekah Lodge, and volunteered for the hospital there as well. She volunteered for Listening Ear in Mt. Pleasant MI, the stroke clinic, and the ROCK Center for Youth Development in Midland. She made pillow cases for the Shelterhouse in Midland so that the kids who went there would have a fun, kid friendly pillow case to take with them. Carley loved dogs and even had her last dog, PD, trained as a therapy dog and took her around to visit and put smiles on the faces of many elderly and young people alike. Carley's IQ was higher then most and she never let her kids forget it. That's what made the dementia that much harder to contend with. But she fought with integrity and never once lost her sense of humor. Carley did all of these things and more all while suffering with severe depression and bi-polar disorder all of her life, which makes these accomplishments even more astonishing. Even while in a nursing home near the end of her life she was always helping the other people there and trying to help the nurses.
For those who may be considering an expression of sympathy we asked that you just pay it forward by visiting the elderly in nursing homes and/or by donating sweater or socks to them. We found that there was a great need for them during mom's time there. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com
