Obituary of Kenneth "Ken" Rohrer

Rohrer, Kenneth Charles Bay City, MI Ken passed away on July 13, 2016 at the age of 86. Ken was born September 25, 1929 in Fort Wayne, IN. He attended T.L. Handy High School and Tulane University. He enlisted in the Navy as a helmsman in submarine service during World War II. He worked for Dow Chemical following that he worked at the Gray Iron and Nodular Iron Foundries and retired in 1990. He was an avid sports enthusiast having played football for two years with the Detroit Lions and later on a Farm Club Baseball team. He continued his love of sports through coaching various hockey and baseball leagues, as well as a girls' softball team. He loved the University of Michigan and Detroit Lions Football and NASCAR. In 1985 Ken married Suzie and they shared a deep love and commitment to one another for 31 years. Their life together was abundant as they enjoyed extensive travel throughout the United States and abroad, boating with friends at Higgins Lake and wonderful Christmas parties in their home every year with all the kids and grandkids. Ken is survived by his wife Suzie; three children, Jean Mitchell, Linda (Frank) Schmidt and Kenneth W. (Susan) Rohrer; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a special nephew Kim Sutton and family. He was predeceased by his first wife Shirley and his youngest daughter Susan Jane Rohrer, and one brother William. A Celebration of Life with the family will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from Noon to 2 PM followed immediately by a Memorial Service with Military Honors, at the Bay City Bowmen's Club, 2245 S. 8 Mile Rd, Kawkawlin, MI 48631.
