Obituary of Evelyn LaVaun Counts

Counts, Evelyn LaVaun Frankenmuth, MI Evelyn LaVaun "Vaunie" Counts took her last earthly breath the morning of September 5, 2016. Vaunie was born December 17, 1923 in Beaverdam, Ohio to the late Dale Willard and Gertrude Catherine Lewis. She grew up in Lima, Ohio where she met Kenneth L. Counts on a blind date and they were married in September 1945. They moved to Saginaw Michigan in 1954 and later to Frankenmuth in 1961 where they raised their 6 children. Vaunie was an avid golfer and loved to travel. She spent 9 years in Bradenton Florida doing what she loved - golfing, drinking Lime Ricky's, going to the beach and eating out with friends. She also enjoyed college football and loved her Ohio State Buckeyes. Vaunie leaves behind sons, Doug (Jan) Counts of Okeechobee, FL, Scott (Paula) Counts of Birch Run, Don (Diane) Counts of Saginaw, & Kathy Tucker of Frankenmuth & her special friend Ken Collver; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Don Lewis, John (Janet) Lewis, Bill (Jackie) Lewis, Jeanette (Warren) Mathew, and Diane (Bob) Anderson - all Buckeyes, which made for a lot of good hearted fun throughout the year but especially in November. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth in 1985, two sons Kim and Brad, daughter in law, Wilma Counts, brother Steve, and sister in law, Jean Lewis. A private service has been held. A special thanks goes out to Covenant Glen for allowing her to come home for her final days and to all of the special ladies (and Al) who went above and beyond to make her comfortable.
