Obituary of Tyrus J. Green

Green, Tyrus J. West Branch, MI Tyrus J. Green, age 86, was born November 9, 1929 in West Branch, MI. Our beloved brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at the Villa of West Branch on September 21, 2016. He is survived by his sister Melvia Goldy, brother Vern (Delores) Green, half sisters Mary Ann (Roy) Benjamin and RoseMarie (Roger) Detzler, step brothers Gerald (Lorraine) Illig and Jerome (Florence) Illig, step sisters Joann Curtis and Geraldine (John) Klann, step sisters in law Anna Mae Illig, Joan Green and Janice Illig, and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Ty was pre-deceased by his father, Frank A. Green, mother Carrie Medaugh Green, step mother Rosetta Illig Green, sisters Virginia Schaefer, Beatrice Kartes, brother Frank Green Jr, step sisters Delores Wangler and Alice Bartels, step brothers Kenneth Illig and Walter Illig, brothers in law Steven Kartes, Alfred Schaefer, Ron Goldy, and step brothers in law Vern Wangler and Glen Curtis. Tyrus graduated from St. Joseph High School in West Branch and served in the United States Army. After the military, Tyrus worked at Buick of Flint, Jorgenson Steel in Los Angeles, and was Manager of The Pines Cottages in Indian River for several years. Tyrus loved his family, especially spending time with his nieces and nephews, playing cards, and enjoyed living at the high rise the last 10 years where he made many friends and everyone knew "Uncle Ty". Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Maplewood Manor, 200 South Valley Dr. in West Branch. Father Patrick Maher of St. Joseph Catholic Church will conduct the service. Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM prior to the service, and a luncheon will be provided afterwards.
