Obituary of John Young

Young, John West Branch, MI John T Young, age 65, of West Branch, died Tuesday October 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Midland MI on April 28, 1951. The son of the late Lyle and the late Betty (Slate) Young. John was an integral part of the West Branch community through the many organizations he deeply enjoyed volunteering for. He was a familiar voice to all that sat in the stands at Little League games, Browns football to JV football, you could even catch him announcing grandstand events at the Ogemaw County Fair and he loved to be a fashionista at the Ogemaw County Thrift store. When he wasn't announcing a game or event you'd find him wandering around bugging you to buy a raffle ticket. But above all dad lived to see his grandkids play. He was our forever taxi. He shuffled grandkids to and from practices and attended all of their games. Dad was "Grandpa John" to all the local youth, and he wouldn't have it any other way. John is survived by his wife of 46 years Patricia; his children, Amy (Rod) Stephens, Jody (Rich) Montague and Pam(Lenny) Atherton; grandchildren, Michelle, Aaron, Stephanie, Andrea, Jamie, Amanda, Austin, Aerianna, Keegan, Karlee, Karagan, Karsen and Leo; great grandchildren, Mia, Naiomi, Maximus, Chloee and Zoee; brothers Jim (Linda) Young, Jeff (Marcia) Young; a sister, Jessie Young; a very special friend, Lou Voss; many nieces, nephews, and loved ones. John was preceded in death by his parents Lyle and Betty Young and in-laws Bill and Edith Jonsson. A memorial service will be held Saturday October 22, 2016 at 1pm at the Ogemaw Fairgrounds with visitation starting at noon. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the family.
