Obituary of Clara H. Hartley

Hartley, Clara H. Essexville, Michigan Mrs. Hartley passed away on February 26, 2017 at the age of 77 at Toni and Trish House for the terminally ill in Auburn, MI with her family by her side. She was born on March 17, 1939 in Chicago, IL to the late William and Mable Verron and later at the age of 9 was adopted by the late Grant and Elva Hixson in Bay City, MI. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Bay City where she served in the choir for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved the Lord with all of her heart and lived for Him. She enjoyed long rides in the country watching for deer. She was an avid collector of tea pots and loved craft shows, antique shops and any kind of garage sale. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Paul E. "Ed" Hartley. They were married March 23, 1957 in Bay City, MI. She is also survived by their four children; Gerald (Cathy) Hartley of Fairfax, VT, Linda (Mark) Demerest of Grand Haven, MI, Janice (Brent) Long of Anderson Island, WA, and Darrin (Linda) Hartley of Essexville, MI, her grandchildren; Joshua (Dawn) Hartley, April Hartley, Ashley Hartley, Aubrey (Brad) DePaul, Joseph (Lisa) Daigle, Christina Demerest, Lindsay (Rocky) Rycenga, Jennifer (Jason) Reinecke, James (Elizabeth) Demerest, Shane (Kaitlyn) Long, David Hartley, Justin Hartley, Kaycee (Ethan) Head and 21 great grandchildren. A special thank you to her niece and nephew Vickie and Pastor Joseph Atchinson for their constant love and spiritual support and guidance throughout this past year, and to Toni and Trish House for their excellent loving care of our mother and all of the family. You all are very special to us. A private memorial service will be held for immediate family.
