Obituary of James Arthur Brown

In loving memory of James Arthur Brown Jr. who was a beloved son, brother, uncle and cousin. He passed away on March 28, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City Michigan surrounded by his loving brothers and sisters and brother- in-laws and sister- in-laws. Mr. Brown was preceded by his mother Kathryn G. Brown and his father James Arthur Brown and his sister Diane Hoffman and his great niece Chelsea Bott. James A. Brown Jr. is survived by his four brothers Jeffrey H. Brown, Ken and Rose Dark, Brian and Judy Dark and Dave and Sue Dark and by his two sisters Pam and Jim Hyatt, Deb and Chuck Wells, Allen J. Hoffman and he has many nieces and nephews and cousins and has great nieces and great nephews. James Arthur Brown Jr. was born on February 23, 1959 in Saginaw Michigan. He was born to very proud parents James A. Brown and Kathryn G. Brown of Saginaw Michigan. James A. Brown Jr. was called Jimmy or simply Jim by his family and friends. Jimmy loved to build models when he was younger, he built model cars and model spaceships. When Jimmy was in his late teens he loved to study speaker design and built very accurate cardboard and wooden models of speaker horns, because of being very impressed with his brother Dave's stereo system especially the speakers thus earning him the nickname 'bass horn Jim' from one of his friends. Some of Jimmy's favorite musical groups were Steve Miller, Boston, Fleetwood Mac and Bob Welch. Jimmy developed a passion and love for photography during his high school years and took many beautiful photographs of nature scenes. He came in 2nd place in a photography competition held with other high schools while he was taking a photography course at the Bay Arenac Skill Center. Jimmy received a certificate of accomplishment while studying electronics at the Bay Arenac Career Center during the years 2002-2004. Mr. Brown enlisted in the United States Army in 1980 and upon discharge from the service attained the rank of SP4. Mr. Brown's military occupational specialty was a Fixed Ciphoney Repairer, his training took him 34 months, which was the longest training school in the Army. He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon//Overseas Service Ribbon//Sharpshooter (Rifle-M16A1)//Good Conduct Medal//Army Achievement Medal. Jimmy held a number of different jobs, he gained work experience at Saginaw Valley State University, worked as a dark room tech for Dirla Studios, worked as a groundskeeper/club house attendant at the River Oaks Communities, worked as a janitor in the building maintenance dept. at the Robert Bosch Corporation and lastly worked as a courtesy/stock clerk for the Kroger Corporation for about six years. Jimmy was a caregiver and took good care of his elderly father James A. Brown Sr. who was 86 years old when he passed away on January 13, 2017. A Celebration of their lives will be held on May 8, 2017. Military Honors will be held prior to the Memorial Service at 12 Noon (family arriving at 11:30 A.M.) at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave, Saginaw, MI 48601, following the Military Honors, the family will receive friends at New Covenant Free Methodist Church, 13176 N. Linden Rd, Clio, MI 48420 from 1:30 P.M. until 2 P.M. when the service begins. A luncheon will follow the service.
