Obituary of Vera G. Kirkey

Kirkey, Vera G. Marshall, MI (formerly of Saginaw MI) Vera G. Kirkey, age 98, went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2017. Vera was born October 10, 1918 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Harry A. and Anna (Ne'chekalenko) Gorbachow and was baptized into the Greek Orthodox Russian Church. Her family moved to Saginaw in 1920 where she grew to adulthood. Vera was employed for many years at Columbia Mills as a time checker, drove a school bus for the Saginaw Township Schools, loved to play cards and visit with family and friends. She was always very hospitable and gracious to everyone. Vera is survived by three sons, William (Marie) Kirkey of Houston, TX., Michael L. (Debbie) Kirkey of Bay City MI, Kim S. (Timmie) Kirkey of Bay City; daughter, Barbara (John) Fahrenbruch of Marshall, MI; a sister-in-law, Ida Gorbachow of Twining, MI; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased in 1973 by her husband Frank W. Kirkey whom she had married on December 25, 1938. She was also predeceased in 1985 by her husband Frank Cheslock of Filion, MI. and her brother Harry Gorbachow in 2016. A committal service will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw MI, with Rev. Robert J. Schultz officiating.
