Obituary of Margot Wiley

Margot Wiley, 77, died peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2017, at the Toni & Trish House. Her husband, Jon and all three of her children were at her side. Margot was born on January 31, 1940 in Flint, Michigan to Marguerite and Erwin Ridley. The family moved to Midland where Margot attended Carpenter Elementary, Central Intermediate, and graduated from Midland High School in 1958. Margot was proud to be a 1961 graduate from the Hurley Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Michigan, Flint. As a Registered Nurse, Margot worked at University of Michigan Medical Center, Saginaw General, Dow Medical, Midland Hospital, and the office of Dr. Daniel Cline, M.D. She spent 22 years working as a nurse for the Midland County Jail and Juvenile Center. Professionally and personally Margot was an amazing listener, who offered sound advice to countless family and friends. Margot was a daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, mother, grandmother, and wife. She will be remembered as a best friend for life, fixer of boo-boos, and baker of the world's best chocolate chip cookies. Margot was a terrific golf partner, who even successfully made a hole-in-one during an unforgettable Mother's Day in 1993. She loved golfing, sunsets at Shanty Creek, and spending time with the family at Seabrook Island. It was a true joy for Margot to celebrate holidays with her grandchildren, who officially dubbed her with the nickname, "Dabi". Margot is survived by her husband of 54 years Jon Wiley; daughter, Kristin (Charles) Groh of Ann Arbor; daughter, Cami (Kyle) Roberts of Hickory, NC; and son, J. Chad (Ann) Wiley of San Francisco, CA. Also surviving her are 6 grandchildren: Drew Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Samuel Groh, Evan Groh, Eve Wiley and Jane Wiley. She is survived by sisters-in-law Betsy (Jim) Townsend and Joan MacDonald, as well as brother-in-law Joe Ducham. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Margot was predeceased by her mother, father, and sister Gloria Ducham. In addition to her family, Margot loved and was loved by numerous loyal friends. Several of her classmates from Carpenter Elementary School remained close friends throughout Margot's life. All wishing to join in a celebration of Margot's life are invited to delight in the simple beauty of the next sunset, take a barefoot walk on a beach, play a quick round of Scrabble, or enjoy the flavor of a slice of hot buttered Spatz toast with loved ones. Margot's family will always be grateful to the staff and volunteers at Toni & Trish House for their compassionate care.
