Obituary of Les "Bumps" Knapp
Knapp, Les "Bumps"
Akron, MI
Les "Bumps" Knapp, age 69, was quick witted, fun-loving and had a bright smile, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 with his wife by his side. Les was born on March 28, 1948 to the late Mitchell and Olga Knapp. He graduated from Oakland University with a Social Work degree and worked for the State of Michigan for 30 years as a Career Development Counselor. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and had a great love for Veterans. Les loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and living on the Saginaw Bay where he loved to fish.
He was a big sports fan and always wore the appropriate attire while watching the Lions, Red Wings, Tigers and U of M games. Les also had a great love for hockey, even playing hockey together with his brother for many years……he was possibly the Red Wings biggest fan!
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Susan "Q"; a brother, Terry Knapp; stepchildren, Bob (Lisa) Zielinski, Jeffrey Zielinski, and Michelle (Jerry) Elliott; grandchildren, Justin, Claire, Ryan and Emily, Cameron and Corbin, Madison, Mollie and Brooke; a great grandchild, Jayce; and best companion Jayla. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned per Les' wishes. To sign online guestbook, visit www.cremationsocietymidmi.com
