Obituary of Rita M. Phillips

Phillips, Rita M. Beaverton, MI Rita Mae Phillips, of Beaverton, MI, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home at the age of 95 years. Rita was born in Lucas County, Ohio on October 7, 1922 to Thomas and Marie (DeMars) Hausmann. On May 5, 1941 she was united in marriage to Byron Phillips. They shared 71 wonderful years together. He predeceased her in 2012. Rita had lived in Gladwin County since 1978, previously residing in Owosso, MI. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Edenville, MI and a charter member of the Albright Shores F.O.E. 3655. She enjoyed traveling, camping, boating, watching Detroit Tiger baseball games, and playing bingo. They wintered in Gulf Shores, AL and Arcadia, FL for many years. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Thomas Phillips of Beaverton, MI; six grandchildren, Debbie (Rick) Call, Jill (Mark) Greer, Thomas (Karen) Blonde, Amy (Jeff) Cammet, Tracy (Tony) Sovey, Jay (Kim)Phillips; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille Caldwell. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Shirley Mae Wright; son-in-law, Charles Wright; three brothers and three sisters; one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law. There will be a memorial luncheon at the Albright Shores F.O.E. 3655 on Sunday, November 12 , 2017 at 2:00 pm.
