Obituary of Ruth E. Whitney

Whitney, Ruth Ellen (Brackett) West Branch, Michigan Bushnell, Florida Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away January 17, 2018 surrounded by her family. Ruth was born on March 4, 1947 to the late George and Virginia Brackett. She worked as a Registered Dietitian for St. Lukes Hospital and later retired from General Motors. She loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed going on road trips and camping. Ruth's greatest passions were sewing, quilting and cooking. Ruth and her most precious dog (Honey) enjoyed the winters in Florida where they had many dear friends and loved the sunshine. She will forever be loved and missed by her children, Lori Halm (Mark Dodridge), Michelle (Jasun) Ecker, Timothy (Mary) Halm; grandchildren, Jacob Mader, Joshua Mader, Amber (Adam) Diaz, Anthony Betancourt, Rick Dodridge, Timothy Halm Jr, Anna Halm, Ashley McLain; great grandchildren, Alonzo, Jacob Jr, Aaleyah, Adalynn, Shailynn, Pepper Jane; siblings, Elliott (Elizabeth) Brackett, Mary Braley, Harold Brackett, Charles Chapin; several brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Byron Whitney; brother, Roy Brackett; and nephew Elliott Brackett. Honoring Ruth's wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm, at Leaton United Methodist Church, 6890 East Beal City Road, Mount Pleasant, Michigan 48858. The family will receive visitors at church prior to the service from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. A luncheon will follow the service for family and friends to share memories of Ruth. Floral arrangements for the service may be delivered directly to the Leaton United Methodist Church on Friday, January 26, 2018 between the hours of 12:00 Noon - 3:00 PM.
