Obituary of Carole Ann (Dawson) Strickling

Strickling, Carole Ann (Dawson) Hope, MI Carole Ann (Dawson) Strickling, age 73, passed away with family by her side at Auburn Fields Assisted Living Facility on Monday, February 12, 2018. She was born on April 19, 1944, in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late Raymond M. and Marie (Schouten) Dawson. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, David H. Strickling. Born and raised in Battle Creek, Carole attended Battle Creek Central High School and graduated in 1962. Her main career was taking care of her family, however, outside of the home she held many positions in the retail industry. She also worked as a caregiver and volunteered her time at the American Legion. She enjoyed traveling throughout the many scenic sites of Michigan, as well as, the continental U.S. Aside from traveling Carole enjoyed spending time with her beloved family, whether near or far. She was competitive in everything she did, especially board games and Bingo, which she loved until the very end. She will be remembered for her upbeat personality, her mischievous smile and her ability to make friends no matter where she lived. Carole is survived by her three children, Steven Strickling, John (Krista) Stricking and Amanda (Michael) Reder; her grandchildren, Haley (Levi) Doede, Jesse Sanderson, Matthew (Meghan) Strickling, Alyssa Reder, Micaela Reder, Marleigh Strickling and Tyler Strickling; two great grandchildren, Griffin Strickling and Madden Sanderson; a sister, Lois (Jess) Millsap-Crowfoot ; a brother-in-law, Douglas Strickling and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service and luncheon will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Midland Free Methodist Church, 5821 Eastman Ave., Midland Michigan. The family will receive friends at church prior to the service from 11am to 1pm. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the American Parkinson Disease Association, apdaparkinson.org.
