Obituary of Viola May Thomas

Thomas, Viola Auburn, MI Viola May Thomas passed away with family by her side on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the age of 86. She was born on December 5, 1931 to the late Mose and Mary (Socia) Mondeau, in Black River Michigan. Viola was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church. She enjoyed music, traveling, square dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Viola was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Bay City Bowling Hall of Fame in 1999. She is survived by her husband James R. Thomas; brother, Leonard (Margaret) Mondeau; children, Randy (Lynn) Gauthier, Connie (Jim Niedzwiecki) Gauthier, Vern Gauthier, and Bonnie (Paul Austin) Thomas. She was the loving grandmother to Matthew (Kendra) Gauthier, Nicholas (Alyssa) Gauthier, Kurtis Pake, and Kimberly (Bryan) Valencia, and a great grandmother to 16. Viola was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters; her daughter, Cindy Gauthier; and great grandson Parker Valencia. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, March 2, 2018 at St. Anthony's Church in Auburn. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Fr. Thomas Sutton will officiate. A luncheon will follow the service.
