Obituary of Mary Louise Horvat

Horvat, Mary Louise Sanford, MI Mary Louise Horvat, age 86, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at Medilodge of Midland after a lengthy illness. She was born September 8, 1931 in Vienna, West Virginia, to the late William Monroe and Essie Marie (Hall) Posey. Mary's family moved to Breckenridge Michigan in 1934. Mary worked at Bell Telephone, General Telephone, and as a cab dispatcher. She married William "Bill" Horvat in 1954 in Angola Indiana. They resided in Breckenridge, Midland and moved to Sanford in 1961. In addition to loving and raising her 5 children, Mary loved nature, walks in the woods, bird watching, camping, yard sales, collecting dolls, Bingo, and her cat "Tazzie". She will be remembered for her quick wit, incredible sense of humor, courage, her strong will and her baking and cooking skills. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, William Adam Horvat; sons Eric William (Miye) Horvat of San Antonio Texas, William (Denise) Bentley of Everglades City Florida, and Jerry Adam Horvat of Sanford; daughter, Kimberly Louise (Dale) Mohowitsch of Coleman; son in law, Dave Heilig; sister, Susie (Larry) Huntoon; sister in law, Emily Greening; grandchildren, Tyler (Birdie) Loveall, Christine (TJ) Walthall, Robert Horvat, and Cody (Lisa) Heilig; great-grandchildren, Barrett Loveall, Mason Heilig, Jette Walthall; many nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Richard Stowits and niece Linda Smith. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lori Lynn Heilig in 2012; sisters, Lula Prahin, Virginia Stowits, Ruby Carter, Martha Post, Nancy Phillips; her brother, William Posey; and step sister, Helen Wells. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Those planning on expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Humane Society or Shelter House of Midland.
