Mr. Corbin passed away peacefully on the day of Saturday, April 28, 2018. He was born in Barberton, Ohio on October 1, 1922 and was the youngest son of Jay Corbin and Ruth (Cotton) Corbin. He was 95 years old.
Charles was a veteran of WW II. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1964 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer - the highest rank possible for enlisted men. He served for 20 years in the Navy, traveling extensively and earning many honors along the way. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Charles and his family returned to Michigan where he began his second career, working as a skilled tradesman at Bay City Chevrolet for General Motors. He retired from General Motors in 1979.
Charles was an avid reader, but was an outdoorsman as well. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and visiting its many national parks and various landmarks and places of interest. He also liked to fish and enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He was a devoted family man and took pleasure in participating in all types of family-oriented activities.
Mr. Corbin was predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Theo Bessie (Teddy) Corbin (formerly Theo Snow). Surviving Mr. Corbin are his three sons and two daughters, Michael D. (Charlene) Corbin, Robert M. (Judith) Corbin, Christopher J. Corbin, Betty Lou Corbin, and Janice L. Kocks. Mr. Corbin is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a few in-laws; and a sister, Betty Haueter of Lakeland, Florida.
A Memorial Service will be planned for a later date. According to the family's wishes, Charles will interred with his wife, Theo, at Floral Gardens Cemetery in Bay City.
