Obituary of Michael "Mike" John Walz

Michael John Walz died on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 due to cardiac-related issues. He was only 55 years old. Mike was born in Bay City on April 20, 1963 to Gerald and Laurie Walz. He graduated from John Glenn High School in 1981 and then managed and worked for several local businesses and restaurants. He later became a big-rig driver and traveled across America with his 18-wheeler and his dedicated dogs. Mike was also an adult caregiver for several family members and friends and performed masterfully and humanely. The people for whom Mike cared loved and appreciated him greatly. Mike was short in stature but gargantuan in heart and spirit. Married, divorced, and having other relationships, Mike experienced life at its fullest. He adored his house in St. Helen and loved living "up north." He seemed to have a keenness for miniature Doberman Pinschers and had many throughout his life. His absolute favorite, Batman, died in 2014. Mike enjoyed playing cards, bingo, karaoke, and was a clever handyman and mechanic. He seemingly could fix almost anything. Mike was one of the greatest talkers of all time. He could easily talk to anyone about anything at any time. Family and friends have great stories regarding some of Mike's long-winded ramblings. One friend claims that he got a call from Mike one morning. Once Mike started talking, his friend placed the phone down and proceeded to mow the front lawn. After finishing, the friend returned to the house and Mike was still talking away…… Mike was preceded in death by his father Gerald Walz in 1984 and by his stepfather James Wenglikowski in 2016. He is survived by his mother Laurie Wenglikowski, his sister and best friend Cindy Herek, his brother Gerald Walz (Debbie), his sister Sheri Massnick (Jim), his faithful dog Marley, and many nieces and nephews.
