Obituary of Vicenta Lopez
Vicenta Lopez, age 96, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the home of her granddaughter, Angie Phinney, surrounded by family. She was born in San Antonio, TX on July 19, 1921.
In her early years she traveled to Mexico where she married her husband, Emilio and returned to Texas. She then relocated to Mt. Pleasant where she and her husband worked at Talsma Farms in Weidman, MI for many years until she started having children, 13 total. She then became a homemaker to care for her mentally challenged and disabled child, until her passing. At that time Vicenta was in need of care of herself where two of her sons cared for her for many years until Angie was awarded full legal gaurdianship. She lived with her and her family for two years until her recent passing.
She is survived by her children, Irene (Rolando) Garcia of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Mike (Shery) Lopez of Shepherd, MI, Martina (Jerry) Garcia of Oil City, MI, Tony (Kathy) Lopez of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Richard Lopez of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Jesse (Joanne) Rodriguez of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Diane (Rick) Shawano of Tuscon, AZ, and Ed Lopez of Tucson, AZ;
her sisters, Rita Galindo, Mary Gonzalez and a brother, Manuel Rodriguez all of San Antonio; man, many nieces & nephews; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio; children Liz Lopez, Christina Lopez, Lupe Keenan, Rudy Lopez and a child at birth; her sisters, Suse Solano, Manuela Estrada, Sara Uribe, Simona Trevino, Martina Rodriguez; and a brother, Felipe Rodriguez.
Cremation has taken place and luncheon memorial will be set at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made out in her honor to her granddaughter, Angie Phinney, to offset the cost of her cremation, and luncheon memorial.
