Obituary of Herbert J. Heilig

Heilig, Herbert Sanford, Michigan Herbert J. Heilig passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2018, at the age of 88 at Brookdale of Midland surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Minden City, Michigan on January 16, 1930, to the late Henry and Susan Heilig. It did not matter where Herb was; everyone fell in love with him for his kindness and loving demeanor. He will be remembered for his hearty handshake, his ear-to-ear welcoming smile and for always, always offering a beer no matter what time of the day it was. He will be missed dearly by so many. He had a special love for all his cats, listening to his polkas, going to the casino and was an exceptional Euchre player. Herb worked for Parker Motor Freight and retired in 1991. He was predeceased by the love of his life Evelyn of 64 years; his daughter-in-law, Lori; five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Kathleen O'Rourke; best friend and trucker buddy, Newt Trowbridge; special niece, Marge Moorehead; his children, Ron(Teresa), Bob (Rene'), Steve (Julie), Mike(Barb), Dave, Kathy (Dave) Kovacevich; and all his grandchildren, Abbie, Sean Katie, Hannah, Nicole, Jessica, Rebecca, Amanda, Michelle, Adam, David, Cody, Mack and Brandon. He also had 9 great grandchildren. There will be a celebration of life for both Herb and Evelyn in the short weeks to come. Herb's family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Brookdale, Pinecrest, Stratford Village and MidMichigan Hospice for their love and compassionate care given to Herb.
