Frederick "Boab" Burrows

Obituary of Frederick "Boab" C. Burrows

Burrows, "Boab" Frederick C. Bay City, Michigan "Boab" passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at McLaren Bay Region July 8, 2018 at the age of 73. Fred was born December 2, 1944 in Pontiac, MI. He was raised in Caro, MI by the late Frederick Burrows and Lorraine (Gassman) Burrows. Fred absolutely loved his family get-togethers playing guitar and harmonica to his favorite classic country tunes. Throughout his life he loved his family dogs, most recent, the late "Pooky" whom he is now reunited with. Fred was an amazing cook, griller and had a passion for canning his famous peppers and pickles we all couldn't get enough of. He always grew a beautiful garden full of vegetables. Fred got all his cooking skills from his mom Lorraine, retaining all of her recipes from Family Sunday Suppers. He spent all of his free time in the summers with his family and friends camping, boating and fishing in Caseville, MI. When Fred was younger he loved playing baseball and continued to be an avid fan of his Detroit Tigers. During the summers he'd pack up the family and hit the fairs, country concerts and loved going to Cedar Point. For a living, Fred owned and ran his Body Shop and Antique Store. He and his best friend, the late John Walker would travel out of state to find the best swap meets and car auctions, picking up "Chevy" Trucks and parts and bringing them back to his shop. He'd work on and restore those trucks back to their original beauty. This love of restoration was passed down to his son Randall, whom takes right after his dad. Fred could also restore any piece of antique furniture and make it beautiful again. Fred dearly loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids... What joy and laughter they would bring him. There are so many wonderful memories of the love for life that Fred shared with others. Always to be remembered, loved and treasured, we will continue to live out your legacy "Boab", you are so loved and will be so missed. Fred is survived by his lifelong girlfriend and companion, Brenda Hoffman; son, Randall (Stacie) Becker; daughters.
