Obituary of Marjorie Johnson

Marjorie Johnson, Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Hoyt Nursing Home. She was 95 years old. Marjorie Ruth Shaw was born on January 6, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Walden and Edna Shaw. She married Dr. Russell L. Johnson on January 14, 1945. They recently celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. She was a lifetime member of the Saginaw Garden Club, the Saginaw Rose Society, and the Germania of Saginaw. Her passion was art in any form. She herself was a talented artist creating in many mediums. She was a member of the Saginaw Ski Club, loved playing Bridge, and enjoyed membership at Mid-Forest Lodge in Prudenville, MI since 1956. Marge was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church and active in Bible studies. She graduated from Saginaw General Hospital Nursing School as an RN in 1945. Marge is survived by her husband; Dr. Russell L. Johnson; daughters, Janice (David) Strong of Hemlock, Judy Johnson of Saginaw; sons, James (Mary Ellen) Johnson of Grayling and Jon (Sandi) Johnson of Rural Hall, NC; four grandchildren, Melissa Strong of Saline, MI, Rebecca (Steven) Prast of Rochester, MI, Matthew Johnson of Lincoln, NE, Mark (Kellie) Johnson of McKinleyville, CA; three great-grandchildren, Carly Prast, Lincoln, and Ada Johnson. Marge was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Zehnder of Saginaw. The family of Marge would like to sincerely thank the staff of Hoyt Nursing Home for their excellent care and love given to Marge during the last four and ½ years. A Memorial Service is planned for Monday, July 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2565 N. Miller Rd., Saginaw, MI 48609.
