Obituary of James Russell Warren

James Russell Warren, age 83, of West Branch, MI, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region Medical Center with his family by his side. The son of the late Roy Russell Warren and Viola (Edwards) Warren, James was born August 10, 1934, in Hancock, MI. He married Caroline Mae Dankert on December 23, 1961 and spent 55 loving years together. Left to cherish his memory are 3 sons and their spouses, Tony (Kathy) Warren of Pinconning, Mike (Connie) Warren of Rose City, Russ (Ginger) Warren of West Branch; daughter in law, Bonnie Warren of West Branch; grandchildren, Brandy Trout, Charity Warren, Jimmy, Jared, Jaycen Warren and Carrie Bodner, Rob Warren, Caitlin Baird; one great grand-daughter, Alora; sisters, Jean Moore of Munising and Marilyn Mayle (Pootsie) of Detroit. James was a loving husband to his wife Caroline who predeceased him last October and devoted son Vern who went to heaven in November. James served his country honorably in the U. S. Navy where he received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He worked for the Road Commission and Central Paving where he was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #324 for 25 years, and also worked for Meirson Sand and Gravel for 22 years. He was a life member of the VFW Post #3775, Masonic Lodge, West Branch Shrine Club, and First United Methodist Church since 1964. He loved hunting, traveling and horses which lead him to become a member of the Sherriff's Posse in West Branch. He had a strong work ethic that he passed on to his family. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A service will held at First United Methodist Church of West Branch on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Timothy Dibble officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service. May he forever rest in peace.
