Obituary of Shirley Belle (Becker) Babiarz

Shirley Belle (Becker) Babiarz passed away on August 28, 2018 at 10:15 pm, age 82. She was born on September 3, 1935 in Saginaw to Hugh and Sadie (Bacon) Becker. She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1953. On August 3, 1953, she married Valentine J. Babiarz, who predeceased her on May 9, 1999. Shirley worked for over 20 years as an office manager for Morgan Sash & Door, and later as a cashier at Sears. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Parish and a past member of the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, where she ran the gift shop, and a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus #4232. Shirley loved camping with her husband in their camper at Tawas and hosting pool parties at their home for family and friends. Known for her fashion sense, Shirley took pride in dressing impeccably for work and social occasions. She was deeply fond of her pet poodles, especially Pepper. She is survived by son, Robert Babiarz of Saginaw; daughter-in-law, Debbie Babiarz of Bay City; grandsons, Rob Babiarz and Anthony Babiarz of Saginaw; brothers, Gary (Jean) Becker of Cadillac and Jack (Ruth Ann) Becker of Indiana; sister, Julie Ballard of Maryland; special friend, Darlene Keyes, who faithfully cared for her; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends at South Colony. She was preceded in death by her son Joseph A. Babiarz and sister and brother-in-law, Welma and Roy Lewis. Shirley requested no services, but rather to remember her in our hearts and memories.
