Obituary of Tamara "Tammy" Sue (Mathis) Novak
Tamara Sue (Mathis) Novak, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the age of 63. She was born on January 5, 1955 in Flint, Michigan. She moved to West Branch in 1979 where she rem as a life-long resident and married James "Jim" Novak on December 31, 2000.
Tammy and her husband were members of the Moose Lodge of West Branch. She was an employee at Clear Lake Bar and Side Door restaurant for 23 years. Tammy had a passion for cooking. She also enjoyed her dogs, camping, fishing, tractor shows, feeding the deer, and a good game of Euchre. She enjoyed arts and crafts and was well known to enjoy shopping and going to garage sales.
"Tammy" is survived by her only child, a son, Michael T.(Gina) Mathis; two granddaughters, Josephine and Ellie Mathis; their mother, JoAnne Joye; sister, Sondra (Charlie) Jackson; brothers, Mickey Mathis and David (Mary) Mathis; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Donna Mathis; and close friend, Chrissy Burgett. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Novak; parents, Pete Mathis and Eleanor "Pat" Mathis; her brother, Ricky Mathis; and nephew Keith Mathis.
Tammy was a member of Lake St. Helen Baptist Church. A memorial service and dinner will be held by her family and congregation to celebration her life on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 5pm.
