Obituary of Michael Bruce Wood

St. Helen resident, Michael Bruce Wood died September 22, 2018, at Munson Healthcare Grayling , at the age of 75. He was born in Toledo, OH, April 16, 1943, to the late Bruce Walter and Norma Ruth (Brow) Wood. Before moving to St. Helen, he had lived in Toledo, OH, Charleston, SC, Flint, and Mt. Morris Township. On July 28, 1962, he married Elaine Marie Albright . Mr. Wood worked as a diesel mechanic from 1958-1996, retiring from Inter-City Trucking of Flint. As a builder of custom cars, he had won numerous trophies at various car shows. He was a member of the Mt. Morris Township Central Fire Department for 25 years, a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Flint, St. Helen Catholic Church, the American Legion, and Knights of Columbus. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served from 1962 to 1966. Surviving are his wife, Elaine; children, Robert Wood of Houghton Lake, William Wood of Frederic, and Bruce Wood of Grand Blanc; sisters, Sharon Gadille of Florida and Deborah VanWormer of Florida; grandchildren, Timothy, Eric, Blake and Foster; and great-grandchildren, Lyla Jade and Rylan Barbra. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, September 29, 2018, at St. Helen Catholic Church. Burial will be made at the cemetery in St. Helen.
