Obituary of James Gilbert McGuire
James Gilbert McGuire, 85 of Gladwin, Michigan died Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland, Michigan. He was born September 16, 1933 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Paul and Thelma Faye McGuire.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, in July of 2007, her daughter, Melinda Helms in December of 2017 and his step-son Mark Anderson in June of 1972. Also his brother Thomas and his sisters, Donna, Sharon and Kathleen.
He is survived by his six children, Lise Hansknecht, Joel McGuire, Beth Elliot, Jonathon McGuire, Leah McGuire, Hannah McGuire. He is also survived by four step-children, Craig Anderson, Gerald Anderson, Daniel Sult and Michelle Sult.
He is survived by his brother Paul McGuire and his sister Susan Palowski as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kasey, Aleah, Jessie, Chris, Jacob, Nikki, Rori, Rachel, Zachary, Jonathon, Julia, Kaitlyn, Christina, Jessica, Charlie and Kylie. Also four great-grandchildren.
Shortly after graduating high school Jim joined the marines and was assigned active service in the Korean conflict. He spent most of his secular career in the construction industry in the Lansing, Michigan area before retiring in Gladwin. He loved traveling, camping, going to the beach and flying his airplane. He truly enjoyed spending lots of time with his children and grand-children.
His greatest passion was his love for God's Word. He spent untold hours in studying the scriptures and willingly shared the things he had learned with others. He so appreciated the deep truths about life, death and the future prospects God has purposed for this earth and mankind. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on August 27, 1955 and never deviated in his heart from the loyalty he felt towards God and His kingdom. His funeral service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018 11:30am at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 2990 E. Wheeler St. Midland, Michigan. David Ortenburg officiating.
