Obituary of Janet Carolyn (VanAlst) Haney

Haney, Janet Carolyn (VanAlst) Fairgrove, MI Janet, age 78, passed away January 26, 2019. She was born in Bay City Michigan on March 21, 1940 to the late Peter and Patricia M. (Meldrum) Van Alst. She was a graduate of Bay City Central High School, and married Earle Haney in 1959. She worked for several potato farmers, the Akron-Fairgove School System, and also did catering. Janet was part of the Michigan Bean Festival for 46 years, and was Grand Marshall in 2018; a member of the Fairgrove Lions Club; and a member of the Fairgrove Methodist Church. She enjoyed drinking coffee, doing puzzles, going to the casino, collecting rocks, and reading books. More than anything, she loved spending time with family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are Earle (Pam) Haney of Fairgrove, Toni (Franz) Wilding of Caro, Denise (Brian) Rievert of Sebewaing, Bob (Karen) Haney of DeFord; grandchildren, Julia, Trevor, Michael, Sarah, & Amber; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; siblings, Gerald (Roberta) VanAlst and best friend and sister, Jackie DeWyse; very special friend and caregiver, Cassie Plowman; sisters-in-law, Donna and Jeanette VanAlst. She was predeceased by her husband Earle January 11, 2018; and siblings, Bob VanAlst, Jim VanAlst, Ted VanAlst, Mike VanAlst , MaryJo Mularz and sister in law Maureen VanAlst. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 P.M., February 23, 2019 at the Fairgrove Methodist Church.
