Obituary of Teddy J. Schmidt

Schmidt, Teddy J. Unionville MI Teddy, age 93, passed away February 4, 2019 at Horizon Senior Living in West Branch with family by his side. He was born in Unionville Michigan on July 18, 1925 to the late Theodore and Mildred (Hinson) Schmidt. He attended Central Michigan University and Bay City Business College. He served his country as a pilot during WW II and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Naval Air Force in 1946. He then operated and owned Schmidt's Motors as a Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge dealer, which expanded to include motorsports (Arctic Cat/Polaris/Ski-Doo). He was a member of the National Automobile Dealers Association and the American Legion. He enjoyed automobiles, snowmobiles, flying, fishing, hunting, coin and stamp collecting, travel, and spending time with family. He is survived by two sons, Terry G. of West Branch and Timothy J. of Unionville; sister-in-law, Betty Pilon; six grandchildren, Terry (LeAnn) Schmidt, Michael (Melissa) Schmidt, Michelle (Matthew) Biskner, Shane Schmidt, Heath Schmidt, and Amber Schmidt; and five great-grandchildren Sydney, Sophie, Jacob, Hank, and Loretta. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor in 2014. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at New Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 222 East Grove Street, Sebewaing Michigan. The family will receive friends at church prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Pastor William Mayhew will officiate.
