Obituary of Emery L. Acord

Acord, Emery L. Millington, MI Emery, age 69, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2019 with his children and lifelong friend Fred Taylor by his side. Emery was born March 6, 1949 to Austin and Avis (Turner) Acord in a '47 Oldsmobile in the middle of a snow storm. He attended Lakeville schools for most of his education but graduated from Davison high school in 1967. On August 14, 1971 he married his former wife Marie Crandall. Together, they had two children, Ryan and Theresa. He was employed by the State of Michigan where he took care of the mentally challenged. He excelled at connecting with his patients. He was known for playing guitar, and also enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing, anything outdoors. He loved being the center of attention if it meant he could make people laugh. Often you didn't know if he was telling you a true story, or if what he was telling you would end up in a punch line. He was very proud of his children and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Emery is survived by his children, Ryan Acord and Theresa (Nick) Dunkel; grandchildren, Nicholas Dunkel II, Austin Dunkel and Marissa Dunkel; sister, Rebekah Acord; brothers, Timothy (LuAnn) Acord and Harold Acord; grand-dog, Samsonite "Sammy" Acord; several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a friend you could always count on for a laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents Austin and Avis; his sister, Theresa; and brothers, Robert and Tony. Cremation has taken place, and a service is being planned.
