Obituary of John "Jack" Richardson

John "Jack" Richardson went home March 6, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jack found life again in sobriety on November 5, 2002. He said he had guaranteed sobriety by being active in service work with his local, state and national AA family. He was blessed and honored by his AA family, as they were ever present in his last days helping him and his family during his journey home. Jack loved sports of all kinds and rooted for all the Detroit teams. He loved his Michigan Wolverines, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he loved all children! Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Richardson; father, Leroy Richardson; brothers, Howard "Sonnie" Gourd and Matthew Richardson. Surviving him are his wife, Julie (VanPelt) Richardson; daughter, Crystal Causley-Huffman (Roland Miller); son, David Causley; grandsons, Kegan and Kodell Huffman; granddaughters, Marissa and Madelyn Causley, Mackenzie Diebel, and Moniqua Gemmil; brothers and sisters, Charlie (Barbie) Gourd, Ed (Ann) Richardson, Cathy Furtaw; sister-in-law, Mary Gourd; many cousins; nieces & nephews; great nieces & great nephews; special friends, Dennis (Cindy) Soto, Jamie P.; and his extremely large AA family. The family wishes to send special thanks to the Heartland Hampton family and Heartland Hospice for providing excellent and loving care to both Jack and his family. A celebration of Jack's life will be held from 11 AM – 3PM, March 16, 2019 at the UAW Hall 4427 Wilder Rd., Bay City MI 48706. There will be a light luncheon and will share stories of the man we all loved. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to his wife or the American Cancer Society.
