Obituary of Benjamin "Ben" E. Pollok

Pollok, Benjamin "Ben" Perry, Michigan Benjamin "Ben", age 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 22, 2019. He passed away at home with family by his side after a long battle with cancer. Ben was born in Dansville, MI on June 25, 1942 to the late Alton George and Carolyn Maude (Juderjohn) Pollok . Ben was a 1961 graduate of Perry High School and a 1966 graduate of Michigan State University. He married Marla Sue Ann Sleeper of Lansing, Michigan on June 26, 1964. Ben was an agriculture teacher and FFA advisor for three years, beginning in 1966, at Dansville High School. He moved to Perry in 1969 where he taught agriculture and science at Perry High School for the next 35 years. He spent his summers running the Perry youth baseball program. He also coached baseball and football at Perry High School for 32 years and was inducted into the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1997. Ben was a member of Perry Church of the Nazarene, the church he attended as a teenager and later raised his children there. He was an avid sports fan especially of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions and also Michigan Wolverine football. He loved country and gospel music and frequently enjoyed attending concerts. Traveling to Branson, Mo was a favorite place for him. Ben will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He spent much of his retirement years traveling with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren. His love for God and his family were the most important things in his life. Ben is survived by his wife of 54 years Marla Sue, their children; Marc (Elisha) Pollok of Princeton, IL, Sally (Lance) White of Clinton, IL and Ben Jr. (Tricia) Pollok of Perry, MI. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; Jacob, Hannah, Gabby, Seth, Jordyn, Gracie, Colby, Lucas, Millie, Isaiah, Mallorie, Jackson, Drew, Haley, Katie, Jose, 2 great grandchildren Brody and Brayden, 2 brothers and a sister; Don (Margie) Pollok, Dale Pollok, Barbara Rendel. Ben was preceded in death by his son Brent Pollok in 2017. A memorial service with a dinner to follow will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday March 31, 2019 at the Perry Church of the Nazarene, 3100 W. Ellsworth Road, Perry. Reverend Tim Harmon will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday March 29, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service.
