Maria was just a wonderful lady. I was fortunate to have been a friend of hers. I met Maria at Riegel School in 1990. I was the school secretary and she was one of the noon moms. I admired her energy and her outlook on life and her sense of humor. I never heard her say a negative word against anyone. She was wonderful with the students . . . patient, caring and watched over them each noon hour like a mother hen. They respected her - no doubt. Her family was so very important to her. She was so proud of them and when she became a grandmother the first time - wow! What a wonderful smile on her face. Even though we only saw each other a few times over these last few years, I always new she was my friend. I truly hope she is happy and content in heaven.
