Obituary of Joseph "Bill" Srebernak
On January 19, 2019, Joseph "Bill" Srebernak, loving husband and father of six children, passed away suddenly at the age of 81 years old.
Bill was born on March 24, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph and Frances Srebernak. He grew up in Calumet, MI and served in the U.S. Army, later becoming a valuable employee of Commercial Contracting Corporation, where he worked for almost 40 years. In 1960, Bill married Carol (Kay) Philippart and together they raised their six children in Grosse Pointe, MI. Upon retiring, Bill and Kay settled in Bay City, MI and traveled the United States together, finding a second winter home among great friends in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
He is survived by his wife Kay; his sister, Marilyn (Penny) Zdeb; six children, Anne (Mike) Rieves, Joseph (Helen) Srebernak, Stephen (Connie) Srebernak, Ellen (Sean) Sample, Paul (Susan) Srebernak, and Mary (Michael) Jacobs; twenty-two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many loving friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Gignac. His humor, honesty, and individuality will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 10 AM, Friday, June 28, 2019 at St. Catherine of Sienna parish in Bay City, MI. Family visitation will start at 9 am prior to the service at 10am, with a luncheon to follow.
