Dennis Leffel

Obituary of Dennis Leffel

Leffel, Dennis Bay City, MI Dennis "Rusty" "Red" Lee Leffel age 70, of Bay City, MI, escaped this mortal realm on Monday, May 20th, 2019, leaving behind tons of paperwork and ¼ bottle of whiskey - which was promptly consumed by his family. Dennis is survived by his children: Kimberly Moler, Dennis "Butch" Leffel, Shawn (Julia) Leffel, and Mindy Hupenbecker. Grandchildren: Keeta Greenlee; Alyssa and Chole Hayes; Christina, Elizabeth, Dustin, and Cabria Leffel; Lisa, John, and Jordan Moler; Courtney (Ty) Myers; Quston Rosenberry; Koressa Rutkowski; and Justin Yanna. Great-Grandchildren: Anthony, Brantley, Catryna, Clayton, Ethain, Isabella, Lilliette, Oliver, Pyper, and Skylar. Brother: Merlin "Boe" (Jenny) Leffel. Sister: Teresa (Roy) Edsall. And nieces and nephews. Now that he is in the afterlife, Dennis is looking forward to being reunited with his parents, Merlin Ray Leffel, Lois Mary McFarlin and his leg. Dennis started out life trying to be good. He graduated High School and enlisted in the Navy. Once he received his Honorable Discharge, he decided that being the "good boy" was not for him. To provide a steady flow of income for his "bad boy" ways, he became a Welder. One thing we all know for sure is that Dennis loved his family and friends. He might have had a different way of showing it, but it was there. Rusty truly fit the cliché, "Give you the shirt off his back." He was generous to a fault often sacrificing his own needs to help others. I think that all the running around shirtless is what gave the nickname Red, not his hair color. Dennis was world-renowned for not holding back his opinion and having a knack for telling it like it is. He was highly proficient at cursing. He liked four-letter words just about as much as his western wear and his cowboy hat. Even with his opinionated mouth, he had a heart of Gold. By the way, this hat is the hot inheritance item. It was in such high demand we thought about putting it up for auction, but we decided that his brother Boe should get it because he had to put up with Red the longest. Visiting Rusty was always filled with various surprises. You never knew what you were going to get into. You might find a Harley parked safely in the kitchen or a wolf on a chain in the yard. There could be homemade cannons accidently blowing a hole through the roof of your car or intoxicated people playing with pepper spray. Always remember to avoid the black pot stew. No matter what you encountered, Rusty would definitely look out for you. If you can find him in the afterlife, he will gladly share a drink and story. Memorial donations can be made to the family, to help cover costs, or to your favorite watering hole where stories of the Great Dennis "Rusty" Leffel should be told and lavishly embellished. A wake will be held at his home on May 25, 2019 at 2 PM. We promise no cannons, even though he should be sent out with a Bang! Arrangements made with Cremation Society of Mid Michigan 1-888-273-3553.
