Obituary of Gary J. Goodman

Goodman, Gary J., Saginaw Twp, Michigan Gary, age 66, the beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and colleague passed away peacefully December 5, 2019 at his home in Bay City, with loved ones by his side. Gary was the second son born to the late Dale L. and Shirley A. Goodman on December 11, 1952 in Saginaw. He relished his years playing football for Douglas MacArthur High School where he achieved All Conference and he was a graduate of the class of 1971. Intelligent and hardworking, he went on to achieve a degree in English from Western Michigan University and then graduated as a Juris Doctor Degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1977. He continued to practice law for over 30 years, working in private practice and for law firms around the county, most recently with Lefevre & Lefevre. He taught English and Law at SVSU. He was a voracious reader and a history buff with an affinity for the Civil War. He was most fulfilled while raising his children. He is survived by his four children, Brett and Bryce Goodman and Corey and Lauren Shaw; significant other and devoted companion, Benita Gonzales; grandchildren, Aura and Cedar Shaw; nieces, Sarah and Beth; and nephew, BJ Goodman. He was predeceased by his wife of 19 years, Susan (Baxter) Goodman in 2011 and his brother Randy Goodman. To honor his life, his family will hold a Memorial Service, Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Wolga Club, 1004 Maple St., Saginaw, Michigan 48602.
