Obituary of Glen E. Barden
Barden, Glen Edward
Farwell, MI
(formerly of Saginaw, MI)
Glen, age77, passed away December 20, 2019 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital ICU.
He was born September 27, 1942 in Saginaw to the late Glen P. and Thelma C. (Griffor) Barden. Glen was referred to as "Glenaferd", "Pops", "Dad", "Grandpa", "Papa up north", "Frenchie", and everyone on his side of the family and his friends, called him "Son". He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Clare MI. During his lifetime, he was a certified welder until severe health problems became an issue. Life on Lake 13 was next to perfect when he and Suzette made their home in Farwell in 1998. Enjoying nature to the fullest extent, being with the birds & animals, quietness, pontooning at his leisure, and working in his garage with wood, became a passion and art as he would make toys and religious items for family, friends, and anyone that stopped in.
Glen was an expert with comradery and making everlasting friendships. He never met a person that left his presence without having put a smile on their face, putting them at ease in this day and age.
Glen had a huge heart filled with unconditional LOVE for his family. The highlight of his life however, was his love of GOD and his religion. His sense of humor was a quality that one and all wished they possessed. He had the gift of being able to tell a story or cliche', even if he were telling it for the umpteenth time, in such a way that it left beautiful memories for family and friends he left behind.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Suzette K. (Cutliff), whom he married on October 20, 1962 at St. Mary Cathedral in Saginaw MI. Also surviving are his children, Brian G. (Jodi M. (Jarvis) Barden of Carrollton, MI, Dawn N. (Barden) Athey of Clare, MI; grandchildren, Jordan W. Bushong (Alison Spickerman) of Farwell MI, Jenna S. Bushong (Jon Skinner), Larson J. Barden of Clare MI, and Megan E. Troutman of Midland; great-grandchidlren, Rowen Raynee, Roszlynn, Jackson, Kaiden, Lillian, and Liam; and a nephew, Gary A. (Amy) Dashkovitz. He was predeceased by his sister, Thelma K. (Barden) Frieldi.
Per Glen's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life is being planned for Spring of 2020. A quote from Glen " Have one hell of a blast, enjoy and have fun…I'll be watching".
