Obituary of Robert E. Mackenzie

Mackenzie, Robert E. Jr (Popsie) Chesaning, MI formally from Montrose, MI and Prudenville, MI Mr. Mackenzie, age 83, a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020. Bob wishes to spend eternity at deer camp, so his ashes will be spread by the boys later this year. Bob was born June 26th, 1936 in Flint, MI to the late Dorothy (Kapp) Newcomer. He married the love of his life, Barbara M Willson, on January 22, 1955, where they were proud community members of Montrose, MI. Bob retired from General Motors out of Bay City with over 32 years of service. Following retirement Bob and Barb moved to Prudenville where they spent their time with beloved friends and Bob spent many days fishing on Houghton Lake. He was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge of Montrose MI, Boy Scout Leader and attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning, MI. Popsie (as known to all) was a doting husband, father, and grandfather. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him. He loved spending his time fishing, hunting, golfing and being with his friends and family. Every year he looked forward to his time at deer camp where many stories came to be. Those that know Bob, knew of his outpouring generosity, jolly nature and love of being around people. Anyone lucky enough to cross paths with him quickly recognized his love for life. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara; daughter Pamela (Gary) Soukup of Chesaning, MI, son Philip (Kelly) Mackenzie of Turner, MI, and daughter Penny (Ben) Cole of Arizona. Two surviving sisters and many dearly loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A life celebration will be held at a later date.
