Obituary of Donna Gloria Churchill

Donna Gloria Churchill (Cook) died peacefully on the morning of May 10th, 2020. She passed away in her home in Alma, Michigan at the age of seventy-nine after a battle with cancer. She was born in St. Johns, Michigan on January 4th, 1941 to Lloyd and Clara (Markel) Cook. She graduated high school in Elsie, Michigan and on December 12th of 1959, she married Dale Churchill. Her husband served 20 years in the United States Navy and they traveled as far as Spain and Newfoundland together during that time. Donna was an active and social woman who played softball in her youth, was passionate about bowling, and enjoyed playing BINGO with her friends. She loved classic Hollywood films, the color red, and home-cooked dinners. She was an unapologetic spitfire with loud opinions and a loud voice to match; she never hesitated to make herself heard even when it meant going against the status quo. Her tenacity and stubbornness were matched only by her compassion and kindness and throughout her life, Donna did her best to always stand strong no matter what she was faced with. Even when diagnosed with terminal cancer in April of 2020, she remained positive and determined, an iron-willed fighter to the end. Donna is survived by her five children Robert (Penny Brown) Churchill, Tina Ackman, Steven Churchill, Suzan Wilson, and Elizabeth (David) Hilden; her three brothers Robert Cook, Dale Cook, and William Cook; thirteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren, She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Churchill and great granddaughter Addison Pupava. Per her request, no formal funeral services will be held. Condolences can be sent in private to her surviving family members.
